Mobile Kitchen

Forge, a local private school just outside of Bend, OR, wanted to help Central Oregon Villages with their shelter located at Bear Creek and 27th in Bend. Starr Designs & Architecture was lucky enough to be their architectural consultant on the project.

The inital plan was to build a tiny home on wheels, but after talking with Central Oregon Villages, it was discovered that they would not be able to build any kitchen on the site and that residents would be required to cook outside. This fact, paired with the reality of what central Oregon winters can bring led to a pivot towards a mobile kitchen instead.

Perspective section showing the inside kitchen layout and trailer with steps when set up for use.

The small trailer has a galley kitchen layout with two cook stations including a pantry and fridge for each. The interior is designed with modular pieces that can be removed easily. This allows the trailer to be reporposed if needed.

The project was covered by both Central Oregon Daily News, and KTVZ.
